new crested lost tail

okay,
so i just bought my first crested gecko off a friend. and when i brought it home i made it a nice cage and put it in there to adjust. when i was watching though he jumped from one wall and ran into the glass and dropped his tail. why did he do that and do i need to do anything else. thtis rlly pisses me off cuz he had a very pretty tail

Well gratz on the first crested gecko! Though its a bummer his tail dropped :\ you now have a frog-butt :D. They drop it for the most random reasons (stress..fear..nothing..e.t.c). Just keep him on a more sterile set up (paper towel and easy to wash decor). Other than that just the normal husbandry routine of feeding and misting will do. No need to treat the "wound" just let it heal by itself. Once he/she is more settled don't forget to post some pics ^^!

Like SE said it's fine. In the wild most of them have no tails either. They usually heal on their own quite well!

mk, thanks guys. he has seddled down ALOT and is eating baby food and crickets until the shipment of specialty crested gecko food arrives at the pet store. once he settled down he is a very nice lizard, glad i got him :)
