How hard is it to get Phelsumas onto repashy?

I've got two male peac0ck day geckos, and my repashy will soon be arriving. How hard it it to get them hooked on it? Mix it it with the other foods? Or will they immediately take it? Is this product OK for Phelsumas( lllreptile.com/store/catalog/reptile-supplies/canned-food-and-diets/lizard-monitor-and-gecko-dry-and-canned-foods/-/repashy-gecko-food-8oz/ )? Or should I re-order the two part repashy (MRP & nectar)?

You shouldn't have to mix it with other foods unless they really have problems eating. Generally they'll readily take it, unless they've been fed other things like baby food. Then they'd be more reluctant. And CGD/repashy is a better choice imho compared to babyfood. It's more balanced and is properly supplemented if used properly.

There are 2 forms of repashy. Complete and 2-part (nectar/mrp(base)). The complete you don't really have to worry about mixing this and that while the 2 part diet is in a sense more of a hassle. Though a good thing about 2 part is that you can control the amount of nectar that goes in that might more readily "wean" them over. But generally using complete would be easier, 2-part gives more "variety" in flavor.

Btw, if you are looking for repashy goods I believe there are several suppliers in Canada. This will save you some money in shipping fees =p.

I use the two part mix-passionfruit, mango,banana are the ones I've used so far, and they absolutely love it. My bigger phelsuma species will completely clean out their dishes, and my smaller species are usually at their dishes within a couple minutes of putting it in there enclosure- so that would be yes! It is great for them. Not sure about B.C, you could maybe try Northern gecko, but here in Alberta Steve at Western Gecko carries all their products, and I *think* he ships. Sounds like you're really interested in them, thats good to hear! If you need any help let me know.

We're talking about the fruit mixtures we use, not the insects we feed them, since phelsuma need more then just an all insect diet. I use wax worms, fruit flies, mealworms, butter worms, and of cource gut loaded/ dusted crickets. What do you use?:roll:

I had a crested before I got my grandis and planned to give him the CGD. My breeder was using it already though. Mine is the complete diet and not the two part mix and the grandis eats quite a bit of it. I don't think you will have any problem with them taking it.

My phelsumas never really took to the repashy. I had my best breeding year when I fed them the Clarks gargoyle diet. It is high in protein. And my animals loved it alot more then any of the repashy diets. I only fed them the diet once a week as a little bit of a treat. And i packed it full of calcium for the breeding females and hatchlings. I had one female grandis produce 15 clutches that year.

I don't recommend feeding only the diet. nothing beats live insects!

All my phelsuma eat repashy without problem. One of the benefits of two-part is you can choose to mix 50/50 if you are feeding insects, or more of the base (60/40) if you are not feeding insects. I use complete because it is easier for me and the geckos still eat, poop, and breed well. Some of my grandis will lick it off my finger.

Its funny how different people have different experiences. I have mixed results with the Repashy MRP. I have only used the one part diet and some of my phelsuma love it and others wont touch it. If I start babies on it from hatch, they'll continue to take it however some of their parents will not even lick it off my finger when its right in their face. Others will eat so much of it they are visibly bloated and look as if their breathing is laboured.

I've also tried Clark's gargoyle and complete diets and have only had one result, not one of my Phelsuma will touch it which surprises me because it should be more tasty for them then the Repashy (more sugar, egg protein instead of hemp, etc.)

Also, Mark @ Northern Gecko is a good guy to deal with and ships Repashy's full line across Canada.
