Trouble Shedding

Hello. It's been a long time since I've posted here. Things have been going ok with my Leos up until a couple months ago. But I won't get into that. The problem I have right now is that one of my girls is having trouble shedding her head. She's never had trouble shedding before. When I saw that she had her full head left to shed, I created a moist environment for her. It didn't work. So, I moistened the hot side of her viv and put a towel over it and left it. Still, the shed was there. It was starting to kinda shrivel up. I remember reading that people put neosporin to help it along so I did that. Now it looks like it's this shriveled up piece of skin. Her eye is involved too. I think there's skin around her eye that hasn't shed. I'm worried. Is there anything I can do? This is now about 3 days old.

I forgot to say that I also tried using a q-tip with neosporin on it...it helped a little but not all the way. Just now, I checked on her and used a wet q-tip to see what the skin felt like. It's loose and "wet-ish" but still stuck on around her eye and nose. She's now actively trying to get it off, I hope she gets it off.

You can try putting her in a moist box. Take a tupperware thing (mine has a couple air holes) and put a layer of warm water in there. I put a paper towel on the floor too, I feel mine like to hold on to in instead of sliding on the plastic. Leave her there half an hour or longer (don't let her sit in cold water though, after a while it'll cool obviously). And then see if you can coax the skin off with a q-tip.

edit - forgot to mention that the box should be closed lol. It should be like a sauna in there. You can try using a thermometer to get the water to about 90-95* and that should hold it's temp for a good while.

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. I was able to put some warm water right on her head. She's got those red eyes so she's pretty much blind in the dark...I used that to my advantage. I put some warm water on her head then used a q-tip to get the skin off. So, it's all off now. BUT, her eye still doesn't look right. I rubbed it a little with the q-tip, we'll see how it looks tomorrow. Thanks for your help :)

You're welcome!

If the eye doesn't look right you can always try to get a photo of it and let us see what it could be or just to let us tell you if it's something that needs a vet's attention or not.
