New Tokay, lots of questions

I recently purchased a Tokay gecko and have some questions for you experts. I have read probably 20 caresheets and have gotten 20 different answers from them all. What is the proper humidity to keep them at? I am currently keeping it (her I believe) at around 65% humidity. This seems low to me and I am working to get the enclosure to hold it better by making a plexi top.

Also do they need a day/night cycle? I have read both answers. Some say UVB is required, some say it is not required. I am currently only using a night bulb for warmth and letting natural light determine the day/night cycle.

Lastly I am getting a new 20 Long tank tomorow and am going to make it a temporary home. Would it be better to set it up as a vert tank, or just set it up normally with plenty of vines and plants to climb on.

Thanks in advance for any answers and help you can give me.

I would increase it to 70-80%

Yes, they do. No UVB needed in my opinion. You can certainly let natural light determinate the cycle.

I would definitely go for the vertical tank.

Good luck! Pictures please

There is no need to keep a constant 70-80% humidity. Let it drop down in between misting. you shouldn't have to mist more than 1-2 times a day. If you put a plexi top then there will be less air flow. The tank needs to have good air circulation. If they humidity drops down to 40-50% in between mistings it will not hurt the gecko what so ever. If you have natural setup, the tank will hold humidity longer that way. Also if you have a plexi top and try to keep a 80% humidity all the time you are going to end up with a better enclosure to keep frogs rather than a tokay.

They are a nocturnal geckos so yes they need a day and night cycle. How else will they know when it is day or night?

I have also seen the debate on uv bulbs. I say no they do not need them.

Thanks for the answers, I have set up a cool mist humidifier and it is keeping the humidity stable between mistings. with where it is placed, the mist on one side is heated up by the heat lamp on the other side. creating a nice airflow through the tank. I am setting up a 20 long vert tank for it now that hopefully will be up and running before too long. I will post pics as soon as i get the camera out of my gf's purse

Edit:

I went upstairs to the mancave tonight after putting my daughter to bed and to mysuprise Tok is stuck to the glass. I guess she was just having a rough morning, and I fear she still may not pull through, but she is still alive. I have no idea why she was completely unresponsive this morning, but just ate 3 crix
