centipedes

Just wondering if this is a problem. I have just noticed alot of tiny centipede like bugs all over the substrate in my vivarium , a mixture of potting soil and cocoa fiber. Is this a problem or are they just part of the clean up crew? Where did they come from? Will they over run the vivarium?

hi there if they are centipedes dependant on size i would say take em out, if theyre big enough to overpower any food items i.e crickets they will eat them, also they can bite so could pose a risk to a gecko. If theyre millipedes then dont worry, they work much the same way as woodlice/pillbugs and break down any decomposing fruits/leaves so are pretty good to have in there
hope this helps

there is a great article that Marty (admin) wrote on taking care of these ****ers without harming the plants. You will have to take the frogs/geckos out, but you end up killing all the millipede's by filling the tank with CO2 from dry ice. Look it up on the search function, it is very helpful
