Well I've had my 18x18x24 Exo-Terra rain-forest setup for 3 weeks and already had an itch to get rid of the plastic plants. I did some homework and off to Home Depot i went , Got 2 Bromeliads ,1 Alocasia Polly , 1 Golden Pothos and some Irish Moss. Let me know how you think it looks and should i use some organic fertilizers or are they not good for the Animals? The first picture is my original setup. , , , , , , , , ,

Hi mate,

I don't bother with fertilizers, just incase, though I do put a drop or two of plant food in the water.

Also I tend to keep the plants in their pots, this helps keep the soil in the pots at a different dampness to the substrate for plants with differing watering requirments. It's also easier to take the plants out and replace with new ones if the need arises.

I have basically the same plants as you and have had it up and running for about 8 months without fertilizer or plant food. So far everything is thriving I have had to cut back my pathos many time to keep them from taking over the tank
