Tokay Gecko

I was in Hong Kong a few months ago and took these pictures of a Tokay Gecko at the reptile house in Tuen Mun park. One pictures says that the Tokay Gecko is "A class II protected wild life in China." Does this mean it is listed in appendix II of CITES? I spoke with owner of the Urban Jungle pet shop in Hong Kong. He said that since SARs came out it has been almost impossible to get the paper work from Beijing to export anything from China. He also said that in the 80's and 90's he exported many "black spotted" Tokay Geckos to the U. S.

There were 4 Tokay Geckos in a rather large enclosure at the reptile house. There were only 3 hide spots and this guy was the odd guy out. I spoke to one of the worker there and he stated that they had them for a few years, but they never laid any eggs. I wonder if they were all males or all females. Another thing that I thought was strange was that one of them was in a tube or hide on its side with one of its feet sticking up in the air and not holding on to anything. Sorry it was just too dark to get a good picture.
