hot hide

my leo never uses is hot hide. i have a cool hide a hot hide and i used to have a moist hide but he never used it so i just mist him. the hot hide is on top of a uth which is under a layer of sand(don't fuss at me for using sand). im fixing to add a few more hides but should i take the hot hide out given he never uses it?

Two thoughts...

1) Double check the temperature inside of the hot hide to make sure that it's within the limit of the hot end. 2) Try a different hide, your gecko may not care for the one that's there.

Even if neither of those two things are the case, I wouldn't take out the hot hide. Just because he doesn't use it now doesn't mean he never will. He should have that spot on the hot side to go to if/when he decides he finally wants to take advantage of it.

Leos are nocturnal. He may be using it in the middle of the night when you're sleeping. But the two suggestions by chipkali above are good ones.
