Hi everyone, I have a little problem with my Gecko.
He's always been very healthy, but last night I noticed the tip of his tail is kinda weird. It feels colder than the rest of the tail and sort of "hard" or "dry".
He eats crickets and eventual mealwroms. Heating is Ok and paper towels as substrate.
Another thing, he just shed... could it have been that?
I appreciate any kind of answers, Im pretty worried.

Here are some possibilities:
--the gecko bit the tail when it was trying to remove shed
--the tail has a burn on it from a hot spot on the floor
--there is some kind of infection.

Regardless, there's a good chance the gecko will drop the tip of the tail. Usually it regenerates looking fine. If you see the "damage" progressing up the tail, it's likely an infection. In that case, take it to the vet. Check the hot side, especially under the hide. Some hides really retain heat and it can be a lot hotter under there than in other places. I had a gecko get some burns because of this. If this is the case, move the hide more to the edge of the UTH.

Generally, just keep the floor of the cage clean and check the tail for signs of progressing of infection and let nature take its course.

It could be a lot of different things. I'd cut the tip off personally. It's probably just going to shrivel up and drop off anyway.

Thanks guys for the advise. I think its the "the gecko bit the tail when it was trying to remove shed" option.
Im using a 6A cream a Vet for now and see how it develops. If it goes up, I'll cut it myself. How do you do that Ethan by the way?

If you take the whole tail, you can put it on the grill with a little garlic, butter, and shallot for a tasty treat or side dish.
