I just wondered if anyone has noticed a difference in behavior of juvenile male and female panther geckos. My babies are about 1 month old. I notice some hide ( females? ) and some are out and about (males?) Also the ones that are out and about seem to walk with their tails up if startled or interacting with each other. Or maybe it s just personalities in general. What do you all think? I have heard that the males shake their tale at an encounter and if the other gecko shakes its tail back it knows its a male.I dont know if thats true.

The tail raised over the back is a defensive posture. It can be seen for several reasons. If it happens a lot when they are out of their hides they may feel vulnerable. I'm not sure how big an enclosure you are using. As far as differences in behavior between juvenile males and females, I have not noticed anything distinctive.
