So, is it normal that my randis is shy ? When i put my hand near him/her , she just jumps away... i have had him/her for a month and it is 4 months old. Sorry for the stupid question but what you gonna do ?
Phelsuma are very shy as a rule.P.m.grandis are not as shy as other species, you could try taming her by hand feeding but it will be a slow process.
They will never be handleable like Bearded Dragons or Leopard Geckos.
Food helps. If you put a drop of honey on your finger, you will become very popular. Approach slowly. But remember that they will never like to be handled.
I have 2 females grandis (kept separately). 1 is very skittish and bolts from view the minute I approach the cage while the other comes right up to the front hoping for something to eat.
In my experience, the geckos only lick or lap up honey, mashed fruit, etc so there is no real danger of being bitten unless you offer crickets or other live food items by hand. They pounce hard so that, of course, is not recommended.
