UVB necessary?

I recently read in a few books on day geckos that if you provide D3 in the diet of day geckos you don't need uvb and if this is true how often to supplement them? thanks:biggrin:

On a recent trip to the continent I was surprised to learn that some European breeders use just supplements and not U.V.B. tubes.However they do put their lizards outside in the summer.
I always use U.V.B. tubes,not bulbs, as I am always unsure of the supplementation of vitaminD3.I mean that you never know how much a certain lizard will eat from a food mixture or dusted cricket.I do use a general vitamin supplement once a week.
