Different Species?

Are there different Species of Frog Eyed Geckos. I've read somewhere that there are about four or five. The two babies I have can be very docile at times and very skiddish at other times. They seem to prefer meal worms to crickets (which balances out my Fat Tails). The woman I bought them from said to only use an under tank heater no heat bulbs because she has lost a couple from over heating, but a few articles I've read have said they need hot temperatures. However they have been very active in eating and moving around with just the heat pad. I'm just not sure and there is a lot of conflicting information as there is with any herp, lol.

Yes, I believe there are 5 species and 3 or 4 subspecies.
Bedriagi, przewalskii, roborowskii, scincus, microlepis are the species
Scincus has 3 subspecies that I know of, and I believe microlepis has one but I don't know the name. The three subspecies of Scincus are: Scincus, keyserlingii, and rustamowi.
Care depends a little on the species which are easiest to identify by placement of scales, color, and size. If they're eating well and active, you're probably fine. I wouldn't say that they all HAVE to have light, but it never hurts as long as you monitor temperatures. They do like it hot, but that doesn't mean you can cook them with lights. I use a light and heat pad with my przewalskii's and have had them living happily for a year now. Though I am also using the light cycle to help simulate a cooling period and hopefully get them breeding in the spring.
