Brand new leopard gecko owner?

I just got a leopard gecko today, I've been doing research on them for awhile and finally decided I knew enough to get one. I got everything for it, and spent most of my money. I must have misunderstood or read some wrong articles because I thought I could feed it only mealworms and it be fine, but after asking a few further questions, I found out it should have crickets. What do I feed the crickets? What do I keep them in? Do they have to have any kind of substrate? Will my baby gecko be okay for around a week with just mealworms? I have to go back tomorrow to get a multivitamin(I grabbed the wrong thing, it was some food for igunanas), but I don't think I'll have enough for crickets and a cage and all that. I only have like $16.

The crickets are pretty cheap only about 8-10 cents each. I would keep them in a small cage container-you can find them sometimes at the dollar store. I was told to put a piece of red potato in the cage for the crickets.
Good Luck!

The crickets are cheap and easy to care for. A closed container with air holes and a potato will sustain them. It is true that leopard geckos need variety in their diet, but if money is tight a single food source will sufice them for a while. It's like eating you left over dinner for a while. You may get bored with it but if that's all you have, then yopu can eat it and be fine.I raised mine on a sole food source for a while and they are fine and healthy.

Water for crickets

Don't forget to give them water ;) If the food you give them doesn't have enough water in it, just soak a cotton ball in water and give that to them. It will last for up to two days.
