I know this is an odd question. Anyone ever attatch to 20 gallon longs by cutting the glass (by a pro. glass cutter) I would like a 40 gallon but do not have anyone to carry it up stairs or even from the car for that matter- 20 gallons I can carry. Tell me if I'm crazy for considering it- but...be nice.:)

Im not sure if you should use a glass cutter.what you can try to do is remove one panel off of the tank. Remove the top trim of the side your going to take out.You can carefully use a razor blade to remove most of the silicone from the corner of the tank don't gouge the glass. once most of the silicone is remove use something like dental floss along the corner to cut through the remaining silicone. hope this helps.

Custom-made?

If you already have access to aquarium sealer or silicone, and a glass cutter, why don't you just make your own glass tank? All you would need to buy is the glass. Many people do this, actually. And you could build a top with wood and screen.

Just a thought.

Thank you so much for the repies- I just found a 40 gal. for $59 - so worth the trouble of melding two 20's. I was told it would be nearly impossible by a glass cutter. Thank you - this forums knowledge is invaluable :)
