How do you feed your leo?

Just wondering, how do you feed your leo? As in do you hand feed it with tweezers every day? Do you just keep a dish of insects and gutloading stuff in a dish in it's cage? Do you gutload first and then put the insects in a dish in it's cage? Describe your method!

Well, when my little guy was eating normally I would put in 4-6 crickets every other day. If he doesn't eat them within 15 minutes then either take them out and try the next day or I put in a piece of potato for the crickets to nibble on and leave them overnight. If they don't have something to nibble on, they will nibble on your gecko.

Or if you are doing mealworms, put 5 or 6 in a shallow smooth bowl. They won't be able to crawl out if it is smooth. Then you can leave them for 24 hours and if he doesn't eat them switch them out for fresh ones.

How I feed my leopard geckos

I don't typically feed mealworms to either of my leopard geckos, just as a last resort if they won't eat anything else. I would put a dozen or so in a plastic bowl and leave them there. I only did this with Jubjub though, when I noticed he wasn't catching any of the crickets. Bahamut won't eat mealworms at all. Now I alternate between crickets and superworms. The mealies are just too much more trouble than they are worth and they hardly d anything for the geckos nutritionally so I don't bother with them anymore.

With the crickets, I use tongs most of the time. I dunk them in calcium powder and I give the geckos as much as they will eat. Sometimes Jubjub will eat a dozen large crickets in one sitting. Sometimes I let the crickets loose in Jubjub's tank, especially when I am not going to see him again for a while. I never do this with Bahamut, though. He lives with me at my home so I can give him bugs whenever I am there.

With the superworms, I just drop them in front of the gecko's nose. They will eat the worms when they are hungry and leave them when they aren't hungry.

At the private little pet store i buy mealworms for my leo, they gutload them and even get it so that they have calcium in them... so i don't gutload. at one point when my gecko was having health issues and couldn't see very well, i handfed and just held the mealworm up to his face, but now i just stick some mealworms in his little ceramic dish and he chows down.
