Is there a MRP for Leopard Geckos?

Hello. I've been looking around for Leopard Gecko food since my dad will NOT allow insects (which really restricts me to very few species). I own a gargoyle gecko, and have been thinking of a Crested but kinda got off that thought.

I feed my garg all CGD. Obviously, it's not for the Leo so I cannot feed it that. From what I'm hearing, Leos will ONLY eat what's alive. I'm not sure if that's 100% true because my friend will feed his Leo dead mealworms.

So, is there a reputable leopard gecko diet out there that doesn't contain insects?

Also, if there's any gecko species that are terriestrial/fairly low maintenance as well as no insect diet, please inform!

Thanks! I will not get a Leo if it absoultely needs [live] insects.

I wouldnt say ABSOLUTELY, ive had leopard gecko feeding on "can o' worms" and "can o' crickets" for some time and he absolutely loved them, specially the worms. I even dusted them for him and he ate normally. Maybe its an individual thing and maybe not all leos eat canned food. I would ask the breeder or pet store personnel, or test him out urself.

Just because you got a leo to eat and live off of the can-o-crap foods, doesn't mean that it was healthy or that it was good for it. A leo needs live prey items. If you can't provide that, then you need to restrict yourself to animals that can live without live prey until you are in a position to provide for it. Stick with the gargs and cresties. Or go with a different type of herp that is vegetarian. Most geckos are going to require at least some live insects.

Thanks all!

To Riverside - Yeah exactly. I want whats best for the ANIMAL. I know for a fact that cresties/gargs can live happily on CGD, which is why I went with one.

Kinda unfortunate on my side that I can't even feed worms. Ah well, parents. One day I'll be able to get an insectivore. Again, thanks all!

Be patient Britt. Your time will come where you can keep whatever you wish. In the mean time, just stick with the species that you can care for easily, and learn all that you can from those experiences. They will help you down the road.

Gee mr. riverside...bit fierce... Anyway i didn't know canned worms/crickets were bad or my gecko. Would you care to share why? Btw no need for more scolding, as i have my leo on dubias/mealworm diet.
