yea i would say a bad idea for cleaning purposes, when i get time i wanna build a very cool viv which will end up having cermaic floor, with a full foam design that will end up having tunnels and stuff but again thats when i get time and i wanna seal everything so that to clean i can remove and wash easily

ya attaching it to the bottom would make it a pain to clean. i just lay it down on the bottom and sprinkle some sand into the cracks to make it look more smooth.

There's absolutely no need for attaching it to the bottom of the tank. What would be the point? It's much better to have it removable so that it can taken out and cleaned on a regular basis.

If you have a proper thermostat on it, it won't be an issue. However, if you prefer, you can use an overhead heat source like a ceramic heat emitter (CHE) which will heat the enclosure from above. This heat from the CHE will warm the ceramic tiles which will in turn provide belly heat. But you will still want a good thermostat. IMO all heating devices should be on a thermostat....both for the safety of your animals as well as the safety of your home.
