Sterilization usually come in the form of heat or chemical. The shell looks quite old so if you're not concerned about the nacre (pearly colouring on the inside) you could boil it. The heat would kill anything in it. Otherwise you could immersing it in a bleach or sodium metabisulphate solution to soak for about an hour. Just make sure you fully rinse it in clean water after so that when you stick your nose inside you can't smell any of the chemical left.
