Easy! Just flip it on its side. 
Spike was getting nose rub from being in a 20 long - didn't have the money for a tall and we had that one from a snake that found a new home. So, after some plotting, I flipped the tank on its end, found a pane of glass with smoothed edges to keep the dirt from escaping and got a magnet rock, attached some vines.... now Spike is very happy.
No more nose rub! I added some corck bark and a bamboo log (he likes hiding in logs) as well.
