Crocodile/Moorish Gecko UVB

I am thinking about buying the one at the pet store. I've got his habitat figured out, but still haven't figured out if they need UVB.

Beneficial? Not necessary? Some say they're active in the daytime sometimes, so might benefit from UVB. Other sources say they don't need it.

If you are going to use UVB, I recommend a ZooMed 5.0 linear tube - UVB/UVA/Visible light all in one. The bulb should be positioned over the tank so that the gecko is not able to get no closer than 4-6 inches from the surface of the tube, but within 12 inches - safe ranges. Works well for my U. phantasticus. He/she will utilize it as needed...

I cannot comment on the type of tube as obviously you have differenr ones in the States.
I have seen these in the wild in Spain, Greece and Malta and they are active both by day and night so I would say that U.V.B. is beneficial. The only caviat that I would say is that when I have seen them in the day it has been in the colder months of the year. Therefore they are warming up in the suns rays rather than properly basking. But the ultraviolet will be beneficial to them.
