A friend of mine just sent me this picture of a lizard. Not sure what exactly it is. They found it at work today. They think it came in a crate from florida. My best guess is a house gecko or something similar. She has told me that it is very small at about 3 inches (7.6cm) Any suggestions on what it is and will it eat baby dubia do you think? I am going to go and try to pick it up from her tomorrow as she has no experiance with lizards. She is more of a snake person. LOL

WTF?

It looks to be pretty obviously an anole. But thats some funky coloration/pattern. Dominican maybe? Maybe I'm reaching... could it be a brown anole?

We don't have anoles here where I live so not firmiliar as to what exactly they look like. It has similar markings to a mediterraean house gecko but the feet are completely differnt. very well could be an anole. Wonna put it in a small enclosure and see if I can get it to eat. I have an endless supply of duba and freshly laid dubia babies.

Anole it is. Will wild caught take food easy once they are in captivity then? it gets to cold to release it here in the North where I live. That and is already dipping into the 20's at night. 40's during the day.

Yeah, it should take food. But I'm sure you'll never see it actually eat. The only reason I know my girl is eating is because the crickets keep disappearing and she's getting bigger.
I would give it a 10 gallon tank with lots or branches and vines for climbing and lots of foliage cover. They tend to be very shy and will just bolt when they see you. Otherwise they are a pretty hardy little lizard and should live to be 1-3 years old. The little one in the picture looks to be young. It looks like it has both female and male markings to me... If you look under the chin and see a dewlap then it's a boy.
In the case of brown anoles I would say definitely keep it. They are an invasive species in the US and shouldn't be released. If it were any other native lizard or gecko, I would say release it.
Edit: I forgot to mention that they need humidity. I spray my girls tank down at least 3 times a day.

Also it may not go after the dubia's so you might need to pick up some crickets or other faster moving feeders.
