I have never seen the inside of a young U. aff Henkeli mouth until I took some photos last night. The parents and older siblings all have solid pink mouths and tongues, so I thought that the black inside this pied girls mouth was unusual or indicative of a certain locality. I am not sure, but I believe that it will turn pink with time. I figured that I should share this with our community so that I may gain or share some knowlege pertaining to the affs.
I will see if I can get more shots as she matures.

Pretty sure it's just one of those characteristics shared among this species. As to why it apparently disappears over time...who knows.

I can't wait to see that in my incubator. Of all my years of keeping reptiles and all the different species I've worked with, nothing has been as rewarding as keeping the pair of henkeli I got from Erik Streight this year. I can hardly wait to start increasing my daylight hours. March 1st hurry up and get here.
