Saltuarius wyberba Care Info Sought

Looking into getting one of these cool lil guys but looking for abit more info on them first. I've got Terralog Geckos of Australia and keeping and breeding australian lizards so ive got abit of stuff from them about them but looking into what people actually use.

Certain enclosures and sizes that suit them best? 45x45x60cm exo-terra be big enough? or do people use bigger?
how do you go about setting them up, as they live on rocks and stuff which way is best to set it up as natural as possible?
any temperatures and humidity you find works best?

I know quite abit of this is in the books but i'd like to get an idea of what the wider population who keep them uses and has them set up like.

theses are the hardiest and easiest to keep and breed of all the Saltiarius/Phyllurus spp.

exo-terra 60x45x45 is the best for up to 1:3 animals. additional rock faces are ok, but the back wall and mesh roof will be used for climbing and are probably sufficient.

I keep these as you know, they are a great species...

I house mine in a 60x60x60, I would say a 45x45x60 is too small. I use cork tubes/flats for climbing. They have a small 35w spot bulb for basking. Coco-fibre substrate. With fake foliage and sprayed every night.

Thanks for the info, just curious justin but why do you suggest that size be too small? as from reading stuff they do well in small enclosures due to not being very active or are they more active than im lead to believe?
am i right in thinking the temp for these guys is kind of the same as cresties liking it cooler and not letting it get hotter than 80?

Mine make full use of their space, particularly if enough surfaces are given. Though just in terms of their size a 45x45x60 would be too small in my opinion.

Yeah similar to cresties temp wise, mine are at room temp but with a 35w basking spot.

I have seen these kept and bred sucessfully in exo terra screen 45x45x60H.
Corkwood bark stacked vertically for greater surface area.

Sorry all, got woefully confused here. 45x45x60 is fine and is actually what I use myself. I was thinking of the 30x30x45.

haha alls good Justin you are forgiven :biggrin: as they're not sticky footed geckos would they be better off with cork panels on the 3 sides of glass instead of the background that comes with exos? which would hopefully give them more surface area to climb around on.

Yeah I use cork panels on the back of mine, but on all sides is good too.
