New Caledonia - Ficus question

Good evening, everyone.

Since I am starting to decorate my terrariums according to the natural environment of the inhabitants, I have come across my first issue: New Caledonia. I spent almost an hour trying to find information on wether Ficus benjamina also dwelled on the island or not, but haven't found anything yet.

Plants like Epipremnum aureum have been brought there, so maybe there is someone who can tell me wether it's the same with Ficus benjamina.

Cheers,
Fabrizio

From what I can find, Ficus benjamina is native to Asia and Australia, and Pothos is native to Asia and New Guinea. I looked around for plants available in cultivation that were native to New Caledonia awhile ago, was thinking of setting up a crested gecko biotope at the store. I did manage to find a couple of species, but not cheap, and their size wasn't suitable for a vivarium.

Welcome to GU.
This topic is over 2 years old but maybe i can help.
Here is a list of some plants that are endemic or introduced to New-Caledonia, not all of them might be suitable for use in a vivarium though...

Asplenium nidus
Platycerium bifurcatum
Stromatopteris moniliformis
Dicksonia thyrsopteroides
Burretiokentia hapala
Araucaria columnaris
Araucaria heterophylla
Pachyplectron sp.
Polyscias balfouriana
Polyscias fruticosa
Selaginella sp.
Schefflera elegantissima
...

Ficus benjamina has been introduced to New-Caledonia as well and can be found on Grande Terre.
