'Starving' Leo

Yeah, its been a while since I've posted last and sadly dear old Commanda, the eldery Leo who developed severe health problems in the end passed during the summer leaving Fry all alone in massive tank

He's been fine and been relocated to smaller tank until I find another Leo.

But look at him; he thinks he's so hungry; this is what he looks like when I get near his tank

"Can I have more please?"

The guy's been on a diet cause he was on a bit of the fat side and has dropped down from 90 grams to 80 grams.

But yeah he's fed a couple of times a week and he is always begging for more and tail is always looking like it is going to explode.

That's definitely a massive tail, it doesn't happen to be a regenerated tail is it? Regenerated tails don't look as natural and can look bloated.

Also what do you feed him?

feeding more frequently but the same amount as you usually do in a week (say you usually feed him 7 crickets a week, feed him one a day instead of three/four twice a week.) will help. It will also help him with weight loss, as having large portions less frequently than little portions more frequently will lead to the liver just storing all the sugars into fat.

Yeah he has a regen tail and he's fed half a dozen crickets on the weekend which he often times refuses to chase them and would much rather eat them from tongs.

Then he gets 10-12 mealies midweek.

I would switch to feeding him a cricket and a mealworm a day, preferably two crickets a day and no mealworms. He will be more likely to eat a bigger amount throughout the week than just large feedings every other day which would result in the excess just being expelled instead of used throughout the week :)
