My Leo had an eye problem. She still does, at first it did not seem to affect her eating, she can still catch and eat. I've even started giving her some meal worms. But when I started giving her the medicine every day twice a day that's when her weight started dropping. So I stopped giving her the eye medication because I figured it was stressing her out. I checked her weight on Tuesday and she was at 53 grams. I checked her weight yesterday and she was at 50 grams. I know it is winter and they are eating less. But I am not having this problem with her sister. Any suggestions?

I have been waiting for a reply to mention something, but I will just go ahead and hope that you read it. There is an eye worm called Thelazia californiensis which is mostly seen in mammals, however I did read about one case in a leopard gecko. The changes are very slim, but if your gecko's eye is not responding to the antibiotic, it will be worth mentioning this to the vet. Your gecko will need to be treated with a dewormer.

Here is a picture of them in a human eye.

SHE HAS BEEN SEEN FOR HER EYE PROBLEM. SHE HAS A WHITE SPOT ON HER EYE BALL. THE DOCTOR SAID SHE WAS OF HEALTHY WEIGHT AND THE EYE SPOT WAS A SEVERE BACTERIAL INFECTION ON HER IRIS THAT WOULD PROBABLY NOT GO AWAY.
If yes, when? YES 2/14/2012
Please list medications given: CIPROFLOXACIN
Please list tests performed: THE DOCTOR DID NOT TELL ME WHAT TESTS HE DID. HE PICKED HER UP GAVE HER A GENERAL LOOK OVER, SHINED A LIGHT IN HER EYE SO HE COULD SEE HER INFECTION, THEN HE TOOK HER IN THE BACK FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES.

This is all the information I have. Can't think of anything else. She is currently in her cage hunting down crickets.

1.Get rid of the sand IMMEDIATELY and put her on paper towels. Not only impaction is a risk , but also eye infections.
2.STOP the pinkies!!!
3.Move the tank away from the window. It's too drafty and will cause tremendous temp fluctuation.
4.Your geckos need calcium, calcium w/D3 and multivitamins. (It's highly possible she has vitamin A deficiency (causes eye problems) along with other deficiencies.
5. The cold side is too cold. Raise the cool side to 75- 90-95 on warm end floor only. Air temp 75-85.
6. Read the caresheet. http://www.geckosunlimited.com/comm...dations-nutshell-19-february-2012-update.html

What do you mean by coil? A ceramic heat emitter? She needs a UTH.

Please do everything I mentioned right away. The supplements is a MUST right away. Sorry on the manner of the post, but it's the quickest way. Her body cannot fight infection unless her temperatures are optimal and the required supplementation is met.
Correct everything ASAP and keep me posted once you have made the changes. Also buy plain Zoo Med calcium (no phosphorus, no D3) and a bottle of Reptivite with D3. The plain calcium will stay in the tank so that she can eat it on her own.
