i have an egg that was laid about 80 days ago and i know they can take up to 120+ to hatch but is it possible to be a dud and still look completely ok?

Actually, the eggs can take up to 180 days. If it looks good, it is good. If the embryo dies before hatching, it will eventually let off a foul odor. The buildup of gases, in that case, will cause the egg to rupture. Just let the egg be and do your best to be patient.
