So today around 6:30 after getting home I noticed an egg in one of my Leo's cages. It wasn't in the lay box provided and it had a minor dent in the egg. Anyway I stored it in the lay box in the position it was laid. Lay box containing vermiculite. I then took out the lay box and put it in a spare enclosure with a infrared heat lamp and a uth.

After checking my females I noticed two of them had some pretty big eggs in them. I guess it is laying season over in my household. It is quite exiciting. Now only to get my tokay a mate.

Congrats! Were they mated?

Yes I mated them myself. They were bought from a pet store like 4 years ago. So these eggs did not come from the pet store. They game from my male breeding with the females. Im quite proud of myself. Finally did something right. Feels good to see an egg that is for sure.

Mind you, second day upate, the egg does look a little more deflated as well as a little bit more dented then normal. No the geckos did not get on it, as it has been seperated from their enclosures. I have checked the egg with a flashlight, and it appears something is inside. So i guess it is a nice waiting period for me.

What is your humidity at. I've read that they will dent if they do not have enough humidity.

Hmmm... That is a good question... I will have to check my humidity... I get the feeling it may be a little low.... How to solve this issue?

Spray the area so it is humid and make sure the the water does not hit the egg?

I'm not sure. I wouldn't spray the area with the eggs. Possibly remove them and add more water to the vermiculite and put them back in or mix a new container of vermiculite with more water and transfer them. I think the heat lamp is probably drying them out. Is the incubator air tight?

I had this method set up for my girl,
Albey's How To Incubate Leopard Gecko Eggs

Definitely take a look around the forum using the search bar. You can find alot id you search dented eggs.

Most often when an egg(s) is laid outside the box it is a dud. Somehow they know! If its her first ever or the season there is also a good chance that its not fertile. Incubate until you are positive but it sounds like a dud. Did you candle the egg when you found it?

The eggs has been cancelled... It deflated way too much....

However, over the weekend, another two eggs were laid. Both these eggs are looking great. Great size, great shape, and not deflated. I have been working with the humidity and it is looking pretty good. Getting 0 mold and 0 deflation of my eggs.

However, these two eggs are also laid outside of the lay box as well. I have incubated them, and am keeping them up on their humidity.
