Diplo breeding retirement

Hi All,
I know to increase the longevity of a lot of geckos, it is best not to "breed them ASAP"; but I was wondering how many seasons most of you get out of breeding pairs of Diplodactylus? I am coming from not the standpoint of 'profit' but as a hobbyist, if I am offered.... '08, '09, '10, proven animals, would I just be feeding someones retired breeders, or get the enjoyment of hatching something out myself?
Thanks,
Peter

I can offer no direct info myself, but a highly experienced Aussie keeper Danny Brown suggests that diplos in captivity on average have a lifespan of 5-8 years with 3-4 productive seasons.

Hi Peter, I have Diplodactylus breeding the third season and I think the livespans given by Danny Brown are very realistic . But the best choice is to purchase sub-adult animals (from the last season/year). Otherwise you cannot be sure about the true age of the animals :...two years or six years? Why do people sell succesful breeding (proven) pairs ? Not all of them are trustworthy. Best regards, Hanno
