Rock heater or not

I am currently building a new vivarium for my Phelsuma Klemmeri. I am wondering which is better, A rock heater controlled with a timer and rheostat, or just a basic heat lamp? I would like and appreciate any suggestions. My concerns about the rock heater is the humidity levels that the Klemmeri seem to require. My concerns about the heat lamp are the basic lack of controls on heat. I am building a 34g Exo-Terra 18x18x24 tank which will have a water feature as well as full spectrum fluorescent lighting. It will also incorporate a ledge up higher as a basking place as well. There will be a fan for added heat control as well as a number of potho's plans and various moss's etc. Thanks for all your advice in advance.

Absolutely no on the heat rock. They are known to stop working or even overheat and I would be VERY concerned with water on it. Plus, Phelsuma rarely sit on the ground. It would be just about useless. If you are worried about it being too cold(I see you are in Canada), you could use some heat mats on the bottom or a small one on a side wall outside the enclosure.

As far as controlling heat output, you can buy dimmers to decrease power to your device. With your heat lamps, all you have to do is change the wattage of the bulb you buy to increase or decrease temperatures.

rock heaters are good as long as you have a pad or something on top of it because it can cause burning of the skin and more

The instructions say not to put anything on it and with the Klemmeri's requiring more humidity it may create issues.
