finding a use for calci-sand

I know that calci-sand is unsafe for reptiles but I am wondering if it could be molded into sand dune type caves by using a sealant of some sort? I would like to find a use of the 4 bags I had purchased before knowing the risks of it. Has anyone used the sand and other products to mold it into a hardened piece of material to make caves or even just a climbing surface?

My only other thought for it was just to get a big glass container to use it as a display in my home with shells on top.

eh, maybe mix it into peat or soil in the lower levels of other vivariums, for drainage? or do you only keep Leos?

I keep a Leo, crested geckos, cave geckos, a fire skink, a king snake and soon tiger salamanders. Future wish list includes more snakes, African fat tail geckos, gargoyle geckos and a bearded dragon. Anything on that list that it would be useful for? I have soo much of it! Ugh!

Aimee's idea of mixing it with peat as a substrate for your skink or crestie is a good one. And your idea for mixing it with some non toxic glue or something to make a cave or whatnot with is good too. You have the stuff, so experiment with it. You might just come up with something that nobody has thought of yet. Use some clear jars and fill them with it and plant some cacti in it?

I use it to coat my desert themed backgrounds with. The most the geckos will do is lick it on occasion, which i don't really think is bad, certainly not the same as chomping a whole mouthful.

I also got this sand calci stuff, came with my leo. From previous owner, of course. Amazing how many people don't do what's best for their little friends.(not such good friends I guess) I would sugguest to mix a large amount of wood glue into empty green been can or somethen like that. With a good amount of that sand, an then mix until it starts to begin getting tacky to the touch. Then mold it around sometheing(I would use tupperware or cups, anything like that, what ever ya want) be sure to lay a layer of cling wrap under the glue so it' won't find it's way into the small areas. It will dry an might be hard to remove, this should help that issue. Since hearing of your thoughts working with this an giving it some thought, I"m going to try this today i'll let ya know how it goes. If you have already done this post pic, would love to see what you did with this stuff.
