For The Sake Of Revenge

I picked up an adult male at NARBC in October of last year. He was always shy so I tried not to handle him as much but recently it has gotten very bad where he will go out of his way to attack me. Over the last 2 weeks I have noticed that when I am observing him after about a 1 minute or so he will try to climb towards me (through the glass like he does not know it's there). I thought maybe he was starting to warm up to me and get used to me but I was very wrong...
Last night while putting new CGD in his cage and refilling his water dish he climbed over from the back of the cage all the way around the tank to meet me at the two front doors (exo-terra). I didnt know if he was somehow used to me and wanted to come out or not so I placed my hand a little bit in front of him as he was wrapping himself around one of the glass doors trying to climb out. He climbed into my hand only to start viciously biting me like crazy. Its not like the bites are painful but he does bite down with all of his strenght it seems and he repeatedly does it. I tried to see if he would calm down but it didnt help, its almost hard to get him off of me when he is really biting down.
Has anyone had any trouble like this before? I've never heard of a gecko going out of its way to actually try to leave the cage just to bite it's owner. He's housed in a single cage and has never been housed with a female over the course of having him. This experience has turned me off of ever buying a full grown crestie again...
