Hi everyone.
I was wondering if there was a trick to keeping crickets last longer. I currently keep them in a gecko brand cricket holder with oats on the bottom, hydration in cleaned soda bottle caps, and a dozen or to medium to large crickets. They die very quickly though. The other thing was that my gecko doesn't shed often and he doesn't extremely older after a year.
Thank you!

The crickets need space, lots of ventilation, water source at all times, balanced food, something to climb on for example egg cartons. If you buy them from a pet store they are already adults and therefore do not have long to live. Oats is a poor food source to use as gutload. If that is all you are feeding the crickets and feeding him, chances are that is why he is failing to grow much. Poor nutrition. Look at the food section. There is a sticky on gutloading. You also want to offer as many insect variety as possible. Read over the caresheet as well.

Where I work, the crickets do best on a diet of mostly produce. They get dark leafy greens and an assortment of whatever vegetables are on sale that week, and we don't lose many crickets at all.

There was aperiod of time when we attempted to feed them on crimped oats, laying mash, and wheat bran with sliced veggies only for moisture, but we were losing more crickets that way.
