Naturalistic Vision Cages?

So I have vision cages for all of my herps. I was looking into creating a naturalistic vivarium for my leopard geckos, but would wish to not use a background that would be difficult to get off (but not too easy to where it falls off). I've thought of using GS, but I'd be concerned about messing up the "plastic" cage sides while trying to scrape it off in case I were to change cages around. I wouldn't want a desert background for my tropical cresties (and vice versa for the leopard geckos). So without scraping it off, that's pretty much destinating the cage for desert animals. Also, just how hard would it be to disinfect/clean?
Lastly, I'm wanting a naturalistic substrate that they can dig in, but at the same time prove to be safe (though I do have their food placed in bowls). Each of my leopard geckos love to dig, and I wouldn't want to take that away from them by putting in tile (which I have thought about in the past).
Any ideas? Or should I forgo the naturalistic idea?

What size is the Tank.

I use Universal Habitat Backgrounds in my Tanks.
They are easily installed and removed.

Is Weight an Issue?
I would recommend real Rocks for the most realistic accessories if not.
Place the rocks on the floor and stack so they are not unstable add several inches of sand. Add some cholla wood branches and you have a realistic set up for sure

There is starting to be more options in Pre-made realistic backgrounds.

I use Sand in my arid geckos tank's as substrate.

The cages are 24"W x 22"D x 14"H. I'm hoping to not have anything too heavy. I've seen some pre-made backgrounds, but they would be difficult to cut in order to fit into the grooves of the vision cage. Down the middle, at the top, is a slot for fluorescent lighting, so it dips in the center. I've thought about cutting foam board to fit, then working with GS on the foam board, but it's difficult to get the "curves" in the right places lol.
Picture of what the cages look like...

The Universal Habitat Backgrounds are easy to cut with just a Steak Knife..

Myself I hate DIY because I have No Artistic Abilities, Mine look like I took a Hand full of Crap and a Fan and you know the Saying. I wasted way more money than I ever wish to admit.

They Even have some Nice Rock Castings that would be good also..
The Individual Castings could be Cut to allow them to be used as Caves and Hides
