I have come to.the.conclusion I'm not interested in breeding and was thinking of adding a third gecko to pair I have. Besides quarantine and things is there any specific way to do this? Or just throw em in and wait?

Take everything out of the cage and clean the hell out of it. You need to create a neutral environment for the trio to be introduced in. Just adding the 2nd female will put her at a disadvantage as the other two already have microterritories all staked out.

Bad idea. Every time I've tried trios or heard of others using trios, they eat each others eggs. Seriously, doesn't matter how big the cage is, they will do it. Tokays are best kept in pairs or individually. If you want to use one male for two females, keep them individually and rotate the male into their cages.

Also, as mentioned, theres a pretty high likelyhood of an established pair attacking a strange female as an intruder.

Even if you don't care about breeding this is a bad idea. These are not communal animals. They do not enjoy living in groups. And the fact is that you would need a VERY large enclosure to house 3 adult tokays together in comfort. If you really want a third tokay, I suggest setting up a second enclosure to put her in. I keep all of my tokays in individual enclosures except for when I put them together to breed.

100% agree with Ethan, if you aren't interested in breeding why would you add another potential breeding problem into a pair anyways. A pair kept together is going to breed. A second female would add to that mix. It really doesnt matter that most if not all the eggs would be eaten. The egg laying process is stressful and a nutrition sucker in itself. If you aren't breeding I'd seperate them, and set up a permenant enclosure for each animal individually.

sorry i missed the NOT breeding part. yeah, if you don't want to breed keep them individually. Pretty much the only reason tokays get together is to breed, and even then they usually arent thrilled about it. as Morgan said its hard on the girls too. Split your pair and setup individual vivs. No reason to subject them to the stress of being social if you have no desire to raise babies.
