Katsu in his new cage

It took half an hour to get Katsu out of his cage today. Then it took another 10 minutes to get him out of the container into this new cage. A couple warning barks and warning bites later, here he is!
Needless to say I was nervous picking him up for the first time, even with gloves on.

Hopefully he gets use to his new home soon. For the last couple of days, in the temp cage, he was hiding under the paper towel and refused to be anywhere else. Currently he is still on the slate, but more towards the top.

One thing I can say for sure: moving these guys takes a lot of time an patience! (and a little guts )

Very pretty! Now you need to give him some time and just mostly leave him alone to let him acclimate to his new home. I know that it's tempting to want to get up close and check him out and whatnot. But he'll do best if you give him a few days to settle in first.

He will need a place to hide to feel safe and secure for him to settle in. What I use are sections of black ABS tubing. I drill a small hole at one end and tie loop in it with some string. Hang the tube near the top of the enclosure from a hook at the top of the enclosure. The tube is easily removed from the hook and the tube removed for weighing or what ever. The Tokay stays in the tube without squawking, croaking or barking. No need to stress them out chasing them for 10 minutes. I hang one tube vertically and another somewhat horizontally. They will use both tubes.
