Hello all!!!

I started out just asking ???'s about Cresties in this thread below:

WELL--- THE TIME HAS FINALLY COME!!! :yahoo:

I got a sweet little Crestie from a family who just couldn't care for him anymore.

I've put some pics below of the little sweetie for everyone to see!!!
Still haven't come up with a name, but feel free to post suggestions. :D
He's VERY friendly and LOVES to jump all over the place.

When we first got home....

Couldn't get any really good pics of the terrarium, but will post some up as soon as I get some decent ones (cell phone cameras are AWFUL!!!)

I got some cork bark logs/branches and put them along the back of the enclosure to give him some more areas to explore & climb...I plan on getting a few more plants also.

I did notice that it's really hard to keep the humidity at a steady level --> any suggestions? It's just a 30 gallon (i think) that was put on end with the screen cover converted into a slider on the front of the enclosure

Congrats on the new addition, very pretty olive color! As for humidity, what are you using for substrate?

I'm using a mixture of the repti-bark & moss...i soaked it pretty good when I set up the terrarium and it seems to be holding moisture OK, but I feel like the entire enclosure isn't getting the humidity... :?
Is there a way to prevent the humidity from going out the screened front? Maybe a different style of door? Ideas???

Using cool wet paper towels on top of the screen works well, or you could switch from using reptile bark (once the bag is empty) to some type of coco-husk or ecoearth with the moss. I find that those tend to hold moisture better. If all else fails you could invest in some sort of auto mister or add some type of water feature in to help constantly make or maintain the levels (should be about 50-60 for day, 70-80 for night, slightly higher for when they shed).

Thank you...I think a small water feature would be a great way to spice up the terrarium so I may try to recruit my BF to help me construct something, but until then I will try some ecoearth or damp papertowels for now

I really appreciate the suggestions! :D

With ecoearth however I wouldn't recomend feeding occasional crickets on it. I usually take my gecko out to feed him live, just because he might miss and get a mouthful. I also put my cgd up on a raised tupperware just so they dont track any in. Good luck!

I only feed live in a separate container for ALL my geckos and have the CGD on an acrylic ledge about halfway up the side of the terrarium so the only thing he may track is his calcium powder...LOL!!! See pictures.

Thank you for the advice!

he is beautiful :) welcome to the addiction! hehe.

sadly the pics of his terrarium that you posted have apparently been 'moved or removed' so i don't get to nose.

i have a plastic dinner tray over my screen, i spray the underside and then hang it off the top with the sprayed side facing into the tank. seems to work pretty well! paper towels as Mambo mentioned have worked well for me too, but i kept accidentally leaning on them and getting paper towel mush on me coz i'm a fool, ha! another thing i want to try is getting some lightly soaked sphagnum moss and hanging it at various higher points in Loki's tank, as that is very good for humidity (it's what i have in the humid hide that he never goes in :p )

i think you should call him Olive ;) maybe Oliver if that is too feminine...

OOH!!! Oliver...I like that name!!!

I fixed the pictures...not sure what happened LOL

Hanging moss around the higher points of the tank could be kinda neat-looking too!!! :)

Thanks!
