Polychrus Marmoratus info?

Today I found one of these and I'm in love. So I have questions.

1. Is the 18"x18"x24" tall exo terra ok for one animal, or is that too small?

2. I've read that hydration is huge with these guys, especially new arrivals. This one is in rough shape. Her eyes are just slightly sunken and her nose is discolored like it was beaten up a bit. When the guy grabbed her she puffed out her dewlap so at least she has some fight in her, and her eyes are alert. Do these guys tend to bounce back if cared for properly when they're in bad shape?

3. The guy at the store says its a girl, how do you tell for sure? My anole experience is limited to green anoles when I was 10, so I'm feeling a little clueless.

4. I read they want 80-90% humidity and the tank to be about 80F with a basking spot of 95F. Is this correct?

Am I missing anything else important? Thanks! And jeez it's hard to find info on these guys!

I don't have any experience with these guys, so I can't be of much help. But we do have a fair number of members here that also work with various anolis. So, hopefully one of those guys will chime in and give you some info. Good luck!

Yeah, thanks I read through that. I ended up taking it home (the guy working today says its male *eye roll*) and putting it in a 40 long until my hubby can build a bigger screen tank. Hopefully it doesn't have any parasites and will recover quickly.

Update on my little monkey.

He (?) seems to be doing better than he was when I first got him. He's alert and moves around the enclosure more.

I still think he looks skinny though. He has been pooping (I was worried because I didn't see any for a long time, but discovered he's hiding it way in the leaves of one of his plants) and it looks normal. He doesn't eat very well, I'm hypothesizing that because he's wild caught he's not happy about the limited selection. Every time I feed him something new he gobbles it the first day, then refuses to touch it after that. I've tried crickets, silkworms (which he went NUTS for... the first time), hornworms and earthworms. I'm running out of options here. The only thing left is waxworms, mealworms or superworms, which I haven't tried yet because I know they aren't the greatest, but as I said, I'm running out of options.

I always leave a few crickets in there, which disappear at a rate of one every two days, and I always leave a dish of repashy, baby food or puréed banana in there, but it never looks touched.

Any suggestions on how to get a picky eater eating? Or does anyone here who have kept them have any suggestions for foods they really like?

Thanks.
