My Tokay (Just today) out of the blue, stopped being a jerk. Usually he is VERY mean, and tries to bite me when I go to feed him. Today, he was super-mellow. He wouldn't even try to bite me when provoked and when I put him off to the side to clean his cage, he just sat there and kind of slid down the glass... I tried to warm him up with some luke warm water & towel after cleaning his cage and I tried to give him some water with a dropper, but he wasn't having it. I offered him a cricket but he just looked at it... Usually, he would destroy it. He hasn't lost any weight and his eyes are glossy and his color is very bright. I just don't know what his deal is.. He is a little bit heavy, but not fat... The crickets that I feed him are gut loaded with calcium rich cricket food & hydration. The humidity is around 80 and the temp around 78-92... I just started his red light back today since it's just a little bit cooler (I'm in San Diego.) Any thoughts??? Thanks

No, I have had him for just over a year now. The guy I bought him off of was a breeder.. Said he thought he was Gay cause he wouldn't breed the 2 females that he was paired with and that's why he was selling him... But he Calls a lot at night, so IDK.

Males, as they get older, will chill out some. Especially if they are captive bred and there is no females around.

As to the gay thing. Some Tokay will pair up 'for life'. Meaning, if you pull them apart the male may not mate another female, or vice versa. Others will only mate in January.

See if he sheds out in the next couple of days. Also, if he's too cool, or cold, they will get lethargic as well.

Good luck,

Michael
