I'm planning on making a background for my Leopard Gecko's tank using styrofoam, spray foam, and grout.
My question is, to those of you who have made your own backgrounds using grout where the surface is rough and bumpy, how do you sterilize it and keep it clean? It's not like you can take it out and spray it down. Wiping it down wouldn't work too much either because of all of the grooves.
I just don't want to put a background in my tank that is going to be a breeding ground for bacteria because of not being able to be cleaned thoroughly.
Thanks.
