S. wellingtonae eye issue

Hi everyone.

I've got this female S. wellingtonae who in the last couple of days has what appears to be an infected eye? I'm not really sure and was hoping I might get some more feedback on it. I thought possibly there maybe something in it, so I swabbed her eye with warm water. She has shed within the last 2 weeks. I've included a picture to help. If there's nothing anyone can suggest I try at home, I'm going to hopefully get her into the vet after Thanksgiving.

Thanks for everyone's help.

Larry

Looks like some kind of eye infection. The picture is kind of poor, but I have seen similar things in other lizards and snakes. I have seen this happen due to certain parasites, abscesses, and also general bacterial infections. I would consult a vet asap. Good luck!

Hi Sebastian,

She seems to be doing fine. I've been giving her the Baytril every other night. I know the vet recommended nightly doses, I just didn't want to overload her system. That and I've been bowl feeding her. She seems to be eating heartily with only being able to see out of one eye. :) That and the swelling seems to have gone down. I'm just waiting to see whether I should take her in for a second visit. Thanks for all your help.

Hi Larry

Thats sounds really good. Keep us updated how she will be in a few weeks.
BTW I have some offsprings so it could be that I will have a male for you for the march or for the June Hamm show.
I wish you and your family some nice christmas days.

Best regards
Sebastian
