Crestie hides behind fake rock background

So I thought I'd totally sealed it up, but my 3 year old crestie - Kyo - found a way behind that darn exoterra rock wall background again!
So I found the point of entry and sealed it up, too.
But now I feel kind of bad?
Should I unseal it and just let him go back there as he wishes? Is there anything wrong with letting him hide back there during the day?

I kind of feel like I'm just being selfish. If he can't hide behind the wall, it's easier for me to find/see him during the day, and I like to always know where he is and look at him as I wish.
Should I be 'nice' and just let him go where he wants?

As long as you provide some alternative hiding places, I don't see that it would be a problem. The very first thing I do with those Exo Terra background is get rid of them. If it isn't geckos hiding behind them, its crickets!

If you can post up a photo or two of your setup, you should get some good feedback from the members here.

I have a juvy crestie that used to do that, but I got frustrated with always thinking he was lost or worrying that he would get stuck so I took it out. I take them out of all my tanks now. They take away space from my geckos, and I can put in cork bark or paper towel rolls, that they LOVE, instead.

yeah, I remove them because of the volume issue, and prefer cork tile.

I suppose there are two things to consider. one, cresties aren't really that bright - is it possible for him to get stuck? more importantly, if he has enough hiding space to feel secure out in the tank, perhaps he wouldn't need it?

Mine does this too, i just plugged the holes so they can not get back there and it worked. I was worried that it would get stuck. I am thinking about just getting rid of it all together though and going for a cork tile from the local farm store :)
