alright well i feed my gecko 2 large crickets every other day sometimes every two days, just because i love to spoil her a little;-) i make sure she has proper temperature so she can fully digest her food, which she does! but i usually leave a bunch of mealworms in her dish, and she never seems to want to eat out of it unless i put the worm in front of her. does anyone know a trick to get her to eat out of her dish again, so i can save a little money on crickets, and also crickets themselves, id appreciate the feed back

My Juvey leo won't eat the mealworms out of his bowl either, I have to put them in front of him. However, I dont mind.

yeah will when mine was a juvy, she use to eat out of the bowl to. But for some reason i think she just loves crickets. i mean i can understand, i bet there a lot more tastier than meal worms and definitely a lot more nutritious. But since these geckos are really laid back especially as an adult, im pretty sure they'll only eat mealworms if they really have to.

Mine doesn't either... this is just a suggestion, though I'm sure others may frown upon it... When I got my little guy he was LITTLE, so I bought waxworms to fatten him up... They've lasted for a while now and I've began giving 1 as a reward for good eating, if my little guy eats well he deserves a treat... There have been a number of times he was full and didn't want it - so I'd put the waxie in the mealworm dish, and the next morning it was gone ( happened a couple times)...Now I know that my guy knows and can willing eat from his dish if he wanted to. He just needed a little nudge so to speak...

There are much better choices than waxworms - but where I live there are only 3 reptile feeders- crickets, mealworms, waxworms... I have yet to find any other feeder in any of the store in this city

Is it my understanding that you only feed two crickets every other day or every two days? That doesn't seem to be enough. You also should just stick to a feeder such as crickets so that you gecko is as healthy as can be. Mealworms as not nearly as nutritious as crickets and also have a hard chitin shell. Also, for the person who said they give their LG a mealworm a wax worm after a meal as a treat, you really shouldn't do that. You should really only feed maybe one a week if that. Sometime over feeding waxworms can lead to geckos refusing to eat anything other than waxies.

Once/twice a week at the most ... I don't give my son ice cream every night but if he's good eats well and does well in school I reward him... I try and use the same mentality, but no not everyday, and not anymore actually I only bought them once and I just threw them out... But it did get him to go to his bowl, giving him interest too. And I did state there were much better choices but unfortunately all I have found in this city I live in are crickets, mealworms, waxworms... :/

Crickets are a good feeder though. In my town we have the same feeders but you can buy feeders online. I feed my gecko mainly roaches which she absolutely loves and they are 100x easier to care for than crickets.

Post a link to the website you get the roaches from... It'd be good for the op as well

So how often should i give my Lg crickets? i mean shes quite fat and has a fat tail, so I dont want to over feed her. But isn't it true, where if she feels the need to eat, all she has to do is go to her worm dish and eat. Mine knows where it is, but she'll only eat a meal worm if i put it in front of her. other than that, when i give her crickets, she'll go after them like crazy. She also use to eat continuously out of the dish, but for some reason as she aged, she kind of stopped. Because i use to feed her just meal worms before, and then once i re-introduced crickets to her, that's all she'd primarily eat.

I had also taken a cricket broke its legs just enough for it to wiggle and put it in the dish to attract my lg... Be creative, and you can't argue about variety... It's just a matter of conditioning and it helps to find something to help stimulate your lg... I'd put other feeders in his dish in the hope to get him to eat out of it, it's not his favorite but hell do it - now
