Taming the Gecko

What's the best way to tame a gecko? Spots is 5 or 6 months old and is active. He explores his hides and all corners of the tank and eats well. He comes out of his hide when he see me (looking for food), but wants nothing to do with being picked up. If I put my hand near him he runs for dear life. He gives all the usual signs for danger (slow tail wag and a lunging position). Should I be patient and not try to push the subject or is it better to try and get him use to being picked up? Thanks.

Thanks bud1988, I'm currently using the described method. What I'm wondering is if there is an age for taming. I've read adults are a lot more mellow than juveniles. So, I didn't know if trying to tame a gecko as a juvenile would be futile, and maybe I should just wait until he is an adult. Thanks again.

I started about 2 weeks after I got my Gecko (she was 1 month old) After they settle in their new homes you can start getting them used to you. Remember yo use the same hand-soap each time before handling your Gecko. They relate smells and can be sensitive.
