Owens Story

This Saturday will be 3 weeks since I found Owen. I got him in a trade on CL. He was in an 18x18x24 Zoomed with a feeding ledge and 2 plants. The substrate was eco earth. That in itself doesn't sound bad does it? Let me continue. The feeding ledge was covered in poo and there was some kind of petrified, dark brown food and a filthy water dish. The glass and plants were covered in poo. The eco earth had poo and mealworms and beetles and eggs; dried out eggs from some reptile. Did I mention Owen was a boy? Oh, and the eco earth stank of cigarette something terrible. This wasn't just a trade it was a rescue!

Owen had a good bit of retained shed on his head, eyes, and toes. This was his first sauna with me. It took hours to get it all off of him.

As you can see he is VERY thin. He was 17 grams the day I brought him home. He was so skiddish and just an over all sleepy boy. He hid all the time. To top it all off Owen had worms :(

He has been eating CGD now for almost 3 weeks. He's a pig! He always cleans his bowl. He now weight 21 grams! He is getting better in hand too. He shed again last weekend. He is doing so much better!

I feel lucky to have found him before he got really sick. He wasn't with the previous owner too long and I think the person who had him before that must have at least fed him OK, there are no signs of MBD and he has nice full calcium sacks.

He is now in a 12x12x18 ExoTerra full of plants and hiding places. Here are the happy Owen pictures.

He isn't a prize winning morph, but I think he's handsome. I can't wait to see him when he is all filled out.

Thanks for looking!

Oh my goodness I'm so glad you got Owen! He looks so sad in the first pictures. I'm glad you're taking good care of him.
