i have had my leo for 2 months and she is three months old. as of two days ago she started biting the paper towels that i use as her substrate. she is completely normal healthy and happy besides this but it is worrying me because it is strange. she will be sitting and basking and then all of a sudden look like she sees food and "attack" the paper towel over and over. is this normal?

I would suggest switching substrates then. Try tile! It is very cheap and holds heat very very well. It cleans up easily and you don't have to keep replacing it like other substrates. You wouldn't want her to keep trying to eat the paper towels, that could cause problems.

Thanks I'll try switching to tiles, I've been meaning to but she recently lost her tail so I was giving her some time to relax before I switched things up on her

Oh definitely! I myself made the switch to tiles a few months ago from reptile carpet. It's a very nice substrate. Looks pleasing, heats up well and you don't ever have to worry about impaction from substrate. Make sure it is standard size kitchen tile, too thick and it won't heat up properly. Also make sure you are controlling your heating with a thermostat as tiles do heat up VERY well and you don't want to fry your little leo.
