Chondrodactylus Turneri Rescue Help!

Hey guys,

I recently received a Turner's gecko that was in poor condition from a coworker's daughter. It's very skinny, not a ton of fat in the tail. It was housed in a flat, round Kritter Keeper and was fed random insects/spiders for about 2 months.

Right now I have him in a 20 gallon tank I had lying around with heat gradient using a heating lamp and a under tank heating pad on one end. 2 hides, one on each end of the tank and water/food in shallow bowls always available. I turn off the lamp at night and let the temperatures drop a bit. There's some bark that I've put vertically to provide something to climb on since I read that they are arboreal lizards. He doesn't seem interested at all though and just sits in a corner all day. In the evening he moves around a bit to drink some water.

The thing I'm having the most trouble right now is feeding. He doesn't seem interested in anything I've offered: crickets, waxworms, and currently small mealworms.

I have him on paper towels as a substrate right now so I can monitor his poop and he IS defecating almost every day but just not eating anything. Could he just be living off whatever small amount of fat stored in the tail??

If you guys have any advice on what to try, I'd love to hear it...right now I'm just trying to keep him from dying but it's not looking too good :/

Thanks in advance!
