Smaug Makes a Plastic Enemy

:rofl:I was playing with Smaug, who is almost a year old now, last night with a plastic lizard. He was staring it down as if he thought it was a real lizard. When it didn't fight back, Smaug got really angry and bit its foot and tried to swallow the whole lizard which is like just a tiny bit smaller then he is. I sat there laughing as I had to seriously take it away from him. Does this at all mean that he is a boy? I'm just assuming that he is a he.

Without knowing what kind of lizard it was supposed to be, how big, how realistic it looks, it's hard to say what his reaction meant.
Going by what I know of geckos, I'd think he was afraid of being attacked and tried to defend himself. It probably scared the daylights out of him.

There are better and safer ways of accurately sexing a gecko.

I agree with Hilde. I'm guessing this is your young crestie?

also, a plastic toy gecko will only confuse a real gecko. it might be easier to interact with him if you don't involve something that he might see as a threat?

I have to be careful when photographing my geckos, as the camera is obviously seen as a big "predator eye" coming after them. this is the primary reason I don't do photo updates more often :( it always helps to consider how the gecko may perceive his environment, which might be very different from the way you perceive it?
