Shedding question

I wasn't sure where to post this...hope it's in the right section.
Anyways our Rocky is looking quit filmy and pale. I have not seen him go into his moist hide yet..should I mist him or wait and see what he does. Do I need to increase the humidity? So exciting..yet a little nervous. I hope everything goes all right. Is there anything else I should be aware of or need to do?

Also he has not been in his warm hide lately since I switched him to tile. Ground temps are around 90 inside the hide. Instead he is hanging around right outside it still above the heat mat. Could this be due to him getting ready to shed or could the hide be too hot?

Thank you!!

I wouldn't worry too much about not seeing him go into the humid hide. I find that mine's a bit sneaky and does a lot of his moving around when I'm not looking. Since they're basically nocturnal, they also do most of their movement at night, when I assume you're asleep.

Assuming all of your husbandry is OK, you'll probably wake up one morning to find him all bright and pretty again. Once he's shed, check the tips of his toes and tail etc to make sure they all came off. If there's bits stuck check out Elizabeth Freer's caresheet for how to deal, or just gently rub a warm, wet cotton bud on it to try to roll off the rest of the shed. Your leo will probably not like you doing this though.

I assume your moist hide is on the heat mat (at least in part)?

Do you know the ground temps in the warm hide before you switched? It's possible he prefers/is used to slightly cooler temps than that hide is at now. How long ago did you switch? You could try turning the thermostat down a smidge to see if that helps.

Thank you for your response.
I woke up this morning and found him in the moist hide just hanging out refreshing himself after his shed! Yay!! He looks perfect and actually left some of his skin on the tiles. Glad he did great!
I have the thermostat set at 91 but do notice that sometimes after it shuts off it can get up to 93. I will see what happens now that he shed and maybe try turning it down a degree or 2.
Thanks again for your help :)

You're welcome. Glad it all worked out. Hope he got all the little bits off. I've been told that a quick, clean shed with no bits left stuck is a sign of good husbandry, assuming that's right - if he's all clear, that's a really good sign.
